Creativity & Innovation Day

April 15-21, 2009

Creativity and Innovation Day (CID) is a global movement to encourage people's belief in their ability to imagine ideas and create and implement change to make the world a better place. Celebrations begin on April 15th (Leonardo da Vinci's 551st birthday) and culminate with Creativity Day, April 21.

History of Creativity and Innovation Day

Creativity and Innovation Day was founded in 2001 by CEF leaders Marci Segal, Jacynthe Bedard and Paul Rousseau. They chose da Vinci's birthday as a rallying point because of his ability to integrate so many different disciplines in his thinking. He played with ideas, persevered in his creativity, and developed a masterful body of work during his lifetime--often imagining technologies (such as flight) that would not be realized until centuries later!

Now, 3 years since its inception, CID is celebrated in over 106 communities across 43 countries.

CEF Celebrates Creativity & Innovation Day

The Creative Education Foundation encourages CEF leaders, members and friends to get involved in this important movement -- sharing the principles of applied creativity in their communities across the world. Together, we can demonstrate how creative behavior can bring about powerful results!

"Applied Creativity employs the tools and techniques of divergent and convergent thinking in a structured problem-solving process. Once we have grasped these principles, we no longer need to wait for inspiration to strike--it's ours to command on demand!" -- John Osborn, Past President, Creative Education Foundation
